Day 23

This tree is weird. We moved into our house in the spring and the tree was full of dead brown leaves. We thought it was dead and were going to cut it down, when the leaves started to fall and small buds took their place. After a few days the buds sprouted and the tree became a beautiful green shade tree. This is what it looks like before. I'll take another picture in a few days to show how quickly it transforms.

Day 22

This bathrobe belonged to my dad. When he passed away in 2001, I kept it. I wear it all the time. I think of him often when I wear it. I still refer to it as his bathrobe. I miss my dad.

Day 21

"Luche libre" means "it fights free". I believe "it" is the operative word here. 

Day 20

"Hey. That's a cool phone."

"Yes it is."

Day 19

We're going to Disneyland! Hannah and her friends (hotel roommates) pose for an early morning photo prior to their departure to a choir competition and visit to Disneyland. I think Hannah is more excited about Disneyland than the competition. A big thanks to the parents who agreed to chaperone this trip. Been there, done that and I did buy a t-shirt.

Day 18

I have a "love-hate" relationship with this piece of equipment. Well, more like "like-hate" relationship. My job would be much more difficult without it, but when it doesn't make a sound, it's great.

Day 17

Progress. The Garage doors are being walled up and new ones will be installed in front of the new driveway. (See Day 1).

Day 16

I'm thinking about buying a new car. This is the one I like. Of course the deal has to make sense. It can't be an emotional purchase. Good luck with that!

Day 15

Mike and Eli are working on Eli's Earthquake science project. They are building a platform that simulates an earthquake. 

Day 14

Today is Hannah's 18th birthday. We gave her France for her birthday. Lucky girl! She's reading a fake newspaper that Zac and I wrote. Headlines read "Hannah Goes to France" and "Local Girl Gets First Choice and Chooses France! Oui! Oui!". The article reveals that her parents are giving her airfare and expenses for her trip for her birthday. This was not a surprise, but it was a fun way to present her with her birthday gift.

Day 13

The dog ate it. That's the explanation I expected when Phil gave me his badge. He's a character. I asked him what happened to it and he said he was going to write me a note. In his note he refers to a time when he lost his badge. Unbeknownst to him, when I reprinted it I replaced his last name with "Slacker". He wore that badge for several weeks before he noticed it. He has a great sense of humor. Oh, by the way, he's also a judge.

Day 12

Trivia Thursday 

Mike, Zac, Hannah and I went to our favorite Brew Pub tonight for trivia. We scored 19 out of 35, which was not great. The highest score was 31. Ironically, we knew that the 8 letter word derived from the latin word meaning "private or secret meeting" was "conclave", but we couldn't come up with the McDonald's purple blob character. He's Grimace. 

Day 11

This is where I swim. Not real exciting, but necessary.

Day 10

Daffodils blooming in our front yard. They have been threatening to bloom for several days. What a pleasant thing to come home to after a tough day at work.

Day 9

We re-joined a fitness club today. As a family, we are trying to get in shape and lose weight. I swam 74 laps today. That's a little over a mile. 

Day 8

We went to Eggies for breakfast with  my brother Mike. As we were walking toward the door, we saw three license plates that espoused the owner's love for Eggies. I thought it was interesting. "Selle" means "friend" in middle high German. I guess that person is a friend of Eggies.

Day 7

France! Hannah is going to France through Rotary Exchange International. France was her first choice. She is very excited. We will know soon exactly where in France she will spend the next year.

Day 6

Naked chips!

Tortilla chips just waiting for nacho cheese product to be dribbled, slathered and coated on them and then to be served up to the masses at a basketball game. It'll cost you $5.75 for this gastronomical adventure.

Day 5

Treadmill! I walked and ran for one hour. Burned 600+ calories. Not my favorite activity.

Day 4

What is that? It's a mosh pit at the Slipknot concert last night. I was able to access the catwalk above the stage and snap a few shots. Watching the crowd from above, reminds me of the ocean undulating and rocking and moving with whirlpools and all. I couldn't decide which shot to post, so I'm posting both. Rock on!

Day 3

Typical Tuesday

Tuesday is meeting day at work. This week was especially busy. I did have a cancellation, but ended up attending another meeting in it's place.

Day 2

Bike Parking! Since when did it become necessary to park bikes in the living room? Zac recently purchased two bikes. He rides everywhere, no driving. It's funny, they are already a part of the living room landscape. I almost don't see them anymore. Almost!

Day 1

This is our new driveway. It might not look pretty now, but just wait. It was poured about 10 days ago. It's still curing. We will be moving the garage door soon. We will then remove the old driveway and replace it with grass. 

Why

I've created this blog to help me with a scrapbooking project. It's called "Project 365".  The idea is to take a photo a day for one year and scrapbook it. I wanted to purchase a kit that was offered by Creating Keepsakes that includes a scrapbook, journaling cards, etc., but they have been sold out for quite some time. Creating Keepsakes has offered some of the items in digital form, so I am going to create my own project. It's a little daunting, because it's a big commitment. I don't know if I will follow through, but I won't know unless I try. 

Today I will take my first picture. I'm not sure what photo to take. (Not a great start!). Maybe I'll take a photo of our new driveway.
