Another day, another visit to the river. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit. I'm on day two. Another view of this pretty trail. Spoiler alert: I will not be taking 21 pictures of this trail.

Ancil Hoffman trail. When I lived near the river, I used to walk/run this trail often. I decided to take Sophie for a walk on it this morning. She seemed to enjoy it. I'm trying to wear her out, but I'm wearing me out instead. This little loop of about 3 miles is really pretty. I'm hoping to visit more often.

Alligator lizard. This little guy was crawling around in our yard. Sophie didn't know what to make of him. Fortunately for him, Eli moved him to the bushes so he could escape.

Looking good. The new fence is complete. Building a fence is hard work. I need to recuperate before I tackle anything else.

Ken gave me the choice of cutting wood or nailing up fence boards. As I am less afraid of getting accidentally nailed than cutting off a digit, I chose the nailer. This bad boy is heavy and bad ass and kind of a power trip. The cool sound it makes is a bonus.

Spending some time in Aisle 25.
I am planting some flowers in the planter
in front of my newly painted wall.
There is a drip irrigation system in there.
In the process, I found a few leaks and
broken pipes. I even had to replace an
elbow joint. This is quite an accomplishment
for me, because I have no experience with
sprinklers; none. It only took 4 visits to Aisle 25.

The wrecking crew. With a lot of help from Ken, Pam, Mike and Roger, we removed two large trees, two small trees and a bush from my side yard. My plan is to extend my backyard fence to the street to create a lawn area near the pool. Ken's the one up on the ladder. He's an animal with a chain saw. It's wonderful to have friends with tools. I like how the sun is streaming through this picture. I like to think we were given divine permission to cut down the trees.

Crisp. I painted the low wall dividing my patio from the pool. I wasn't sure about the color at first, but it's growing on me. It's amazing how a little paint can transform the look of something.

Pasquale's Pastrami sandwich. Pam ordered this. It could feed three people. She had plenty of leftovers.

New Ipad game. Name that logo. I can't figure this one out and I'm out of hints. It's a petroleum company.

The second Sunday of the month means a visit to the Antique Faire. Didn't buy much today, but saw this cool set of Mahjong tiles.

Mother's Day brunch a day early. The kids came over and celebrated Mother's Day with me today. They even posed for photos.

Babysitting gig. I got to babysit Archer for a few hours this afternoon. He's so sweet and super easy going. Oh, and cuter than a speckled pup in a red wagon.

Another group effort almost complete. A suitcase repurposed to a bathroom cabinet. Thanks to Ken for cutting the hole in the front. Thanks to Roger for building the shelves. All that is left is to paint the shelves install the mirror.

A long ride. Roger and I took a ride from Folsom to Old Sacramento along the American River Bike Trail. It's 30 miles. The last 5 were brutal.

Sophie has to wear a collar and stay quiet, so we are keeping her in a pen for now. She can sure pull off the "poor me" look complete with whine.

Sophie post surgery. Sophie was spayed today. She's a little out of it right now. I'm sure she will be back to her hyper self in a few days. Too bad they don't send you home with a little extra to keep her knocked out for say...a week.

Finished this project. Finally glued the red metal ceiling tile to the wall. It covers up holes, unfinished wood, etc. I like how it turned out. It looks like it belongs there.

A $1 yard sale paint by number picture. Another transformation. This one will say, "Hand over your heart let's go home." Lyrics from Cold Desert by Kings of Leon.

If I had a (real) hammer...I have been using a small craft hammer for the longest time. It was time to get real.
ps. My second skipped day. It's a good thing I took two photos yesterday. Again, I forgive myself.

Thanks to the bosses at work, the office was closed today. I helped my friends pour concrete. I painted my kitchen ceiling and I was able to read a couple of chapters of Catching Fire. Days off are good.
