Day 237

Hey Cinderella! What's the story all about?
I've got a funny feeling we missed a page or two somehow.
Oh, Cinderella maybe you could help us out.
Does the shoe fit you now?

Day 236

Just add water.

The end of the seemingly endless house remodel pictures. It was such a good source of picture ideas. Now what?

Day 235

Sod. I been waiting rather impatiently for this day. Only because, I know that, once the sod is in, the job is finished. Unfortunately, I had to work tonight, so I couldn't see the finished product. I am content, however, knowing that there is sod laying out there in the dark waiting for me to take a picture of it tomorrow.

Day 234

Sequence. Brandi, Donny, Tristan and Mike are playing one serious game of Sequence.  From the look on their faces you would think it's the World Series of Poker.

Day 233

Skype reunion. Hannah and her best friend, Amber (aka Demi), haven't spoken for two months. After 2 1/2 hours, I think they are caught up.

Day 232

Sky High. Eli attended his best friend, Max's birthday party today. It was held at a place where you can play dodge ball on trampolines. A perfect combination for 12 year old boys. As you can see, it was difficult to get a good picture. Not enough light and too much movement.

Day 231

Hip check. Eli gets tossed around at soccer games every once in awhile. Here he looks like he is attached to the opponent's hip. Of course, no foul was called. However, Eli's team did win 2-0.

Day 230

Lagerstroemia Indica. Crape Myrtle. These are called Red Dynamite. Aren't they lovely?

Day 229

The Back Door. Joined some work friends for a late afternoon drink at the Back Door Bar in Old Sac. I'm not sure what is more unsettling; The name of the bar, the fact that I have been here before, or that I find the name of the bar so unsettling.

Day 228

It's closed. Our favorite brew pub. No more Trivia Thursdays with Chris. No more drunken pig tostadas. No more anagrams. No more "Lowered Expectations". No more ice cold hefeweisen. No more talking each other out of the right answers. Makes you want to cry in your beer (if you had one).

Day 227

Lawn ornament. Not much of a story here, I just like this plant hanger in our backyard.

Day 226

2-5-7-10 box. Taught the ladies how to make this gift box at my workshop this evening. It's named after it's measurements. How clever.

Day 225

It's not the use of the power tools that I'm impressed with. It's that he can crouch down into that position and stay there for a long time.

Day 224

Tattered Angels.  Attended a scrapbook class today. I learned how to use Glimmer Mists and stencils. It's really fun to work with and everything you make turns out beautifully. I like that kind of art.

Day 223

"Hath no man's dagger here a point for me?"*
Flu shots. Thanks to my employer for providing them free of charge.

Day 222

Leaf Art. Took my camera on my walk today. At the park near my house, there is a path that winds around the park. I guess I look down a lot when I am working out, because I noticed all of these leaf prints. I did get some questioning looks from the other walkers as I was crouching down to take the photos. Hey, what are you looking at?

Day 221

Would you like coffee with that cream? I love this stuff. I almost won't drink coffee without it. My family likes it too. We get this big size at Sam's Club. Mike calls the smaller containers you get at the grocery store, "single servings".

Day 220

John Hiatt/Lyle Lovett. Went to a great concert last night (somewhere other than the arena). I've been a John Hiatt fan for a long time. Hiatt was what I expected. Lyle Lovett was a complete surprise. His songs were great and the banter between the two had us laughing all night. They took turns singing songs and commenting on each other's lyrics. They even played a few songs together. It was my first visit to the Mondavi Center at UCDavis. It's a great venue. Two thumbs up.

Day 219

Card Class. I'm teaching a card class next week. This is one of the cards we'll be making. I'm still taking sign-ups.

Day 218

A new porch requires a new welcome mat.

Day 217

Man on! Eli passing the ball as the defender approaches.

Day 216

"Try not. Do or do not, there is no try." Yoda. Star Wars in concert at the arena this weekend. There was a display of costumes and artwork from the movies.

Some more great Yoda quotes:

"Size matters, not" (Saw this one on a guy's shirt. Really? Where's your date?)

"When 900 years you reach, look as good you will not."

and, of course,

"May the force be with you."

Day 215

Family trait. From my mother's side of the family, I was given the gift of small, crooked pinky fingers.

Day 214

Walk this way. The penultimate phase of our front yard project. Of all the changes that have been made to the exterior of our house, I am most excited about this, because it so dramatically changes the look of the house. It is no longer concrete, concrete, concrete. It's just concrete.

Day 213

"It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma, but perhaps there is a key."* This cool horse sculpture seems to be made out of metal fenders. The weird thing is that it is in the parking lot of a Rite Aid and Panda Express. What? Were prescriptions once delivered by horse? Or worse, what is exactly in that Bejing Beef?

Day 212

It was bound to happen. No idea for a picture, time and light running out. I took Ezzy for a walk and tried to get a picture of her. Note to self: walking and taking pictures does not work. Once Ezzy puts her nose to the ground, she does not stop.

The bright side, tomorrow's picture has to be better, because it can't get worse.

Day 211

Copy cat!  I saw a card in a magazine today and copied it. I changed it a little, but the basic idea was the same.

Day 210

Way to use your, uh, back.

Day 209

The old driveway is finally gone. New walkways and landscaping are going in soon. I believe I see the end in sight. Yeah!

Day 208

All smiles. Trivia Thursday with Zac and Colleen. They are all smiles despite our dismal showing. We came in 8th. By the way, do you remember who knocked Mary Decker over in the 1984 Olympics? I did. Amazing what trivia you keep trapped in the deep, dark recesses of your mind.

Day 207

True confessions. I have been on a diet for two weeks*. I won't say how much I want/need to lose, but I will say that I am determined to accomplish my goal of being fit @ 50.

*I did cheat this weekend, but I planned for it and little or no damage was done.  In my book, it's not cheating if you have a plan...
