June 27, 2012

Lake Natomas to Folsom. Eli and I took a  very long bike ride today. We found some new trails in and around Folsom. Afterward, we treated ourselves to Smash burgers. Thanks for a great day, Eli.

June 26, 2012

I have a confession to make. I like outdoor lights. There, I said it. Eli and I surrounded the pool with rope lights.

June 25, 2012

Another hanging basket plant. I'm adding a couple or 3 hanging baskets to the patio.

June 24, 2012

Weapon of choice. This simple spray bottle filled with ordinary water has done wonders to keep Sophie in line. A couple of squirts when she is barking or misbehaving and voila! I don't have to spray her much anymore; I just show her the bottle. Awesome!

June 23, 2012

Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street? 6 shows of Sesame Street this weekend. Either the kids love the characters or they are terrified of them. I can understand both reactions.

June 22, 2012

I love the sound of water fountains. I found this little one on Craigslist.

"Happy Birthday, Mommy."

Love, Archer

Finishing touch. My new granite counter needed some trim. I found this trim at Home Depot. It fits perfectly.

June 19, 2012

Downton Abbey- Season 2. The Giants were getting clobbered by the Angels, so I decided to re-watch the second season of Downton Abby. Like leftover spaghetti, it's even better the second time around.

Free Bates!

Another addition to the fence. I've had these wall planters for awhile. I bought some moss and some flowers, but the flowers were too big for the planters, so back to the nursery to find something a little smaller. In the meantime, they looked nice, so I put them up anyway.

June 17, 2012

Father's Day BBQ.  Roger was kind enough to share his father for the day. The food was delicious and beautiful. The menu: ribs, fruit, crock pot beans, frozen pea salad, peach pie and wonderful company.

June 16, 2012

Hanging baskets. These baskets were fun to put together and they add some much needed color to the area.

June 15, 2012

Be-sodded. How's this for instant gratification? Of course, the sod was put down on the hottest day of the year, so watering is the key.

June 14, 2012

Big boy, Archer. Archer came for a visit today. I put him in the highchair for the first time. He looks so big in there. He liked it too.

June 13, 2012

First dump run ever. I loaded the truck up and went to the dump all by myself. When I drove in, I told the lady that I had never been there before and she said, "Welcome to the dump." Thanks dump lady. It's nice to know that I am welcome here.

June 12, 2012

This is my bedtime set-up. I turn the alarm on if I need to get up early. I set my ipod audiobook for one hour. The only thing missing is the washcloth to cover the bright light on the ipod player. Boring, I know, but as you can see on the clock, it was 11 p.m. and I hadn't taken a photo yet.

June 11, 2012

Sprinkler installation. I'm almost ready for the sod. Did the sprinklers ourselves. Charlie is testing them out. He approves.

June 10, 2012

Stop shark finning. At first, I thought this meant, don't do that thing in the pool where you swim with your arm bent and act like a shark. Of course, it's much more serious than that. It's the practice of catching sharks and cutting off their fins and then throwing them back in the ocean to die an agonizing slow death. Don't do that second thing.

June 9, 2012

Like shooting fish in a barrel.  Ken and Pam are building a new koi pod. They first had to empty the old one. Ken caught them and Pam inspected them for disease and then put them in their temporary home, which is their old spa. Tinkerbell is looking on, hoping Ken will drop one.

June 8, 2012

After weeks of planning, fretting, almost giving up and finally saying, "What's the worst that can happen?" The BBQ transformation occurred. I dream up these crazy ideas, but can't do it alone. My sincere thanks to my awesome friends, Pam and Ken for designing and building a base that could hold an elephant; to Roger for making our inaugural dinner; and to my brother Mike and my friend, Kevin for carrying and gently placing the 350 lb. counter.

June 7, 2012

Sandle feet. Almost forgot to take a photo today. My feet were handy. I need a pedicure.

June 6, 2012

A good thing about working at an arena is that I can borrow equipment like this. I needed something to place a giant slab of granite on.

June 5, 2012

Crafternoon. I just made that word up. It means spending the afternoon crafting. In this case, making cards.

June 4, 2012

Reading to Archer. Somehow I know that this boy is going to love reading.

June 3, 2012

I saw this idea online. Wrap string around a jar and spray paint it. Add a tea light and voila.

June 2, 2012

Garage sale find. I like when I pay so little for something that I don't worry if it gets ruined.

June 1, 2012

It might be time for new running shoes.
